Bean AI does not collect any personal information. The app has no user accounts, no analytics SDK, and no crash reporting service.
All data you enter — coffee names, origins, tasting notes, photos, ratings — is stored exclusively on your device and, if you enable it, in your personal iCloud account.
Bean AI requests access to your camera and photo library solely to scan coffee bag labels. Images are:
Bean AI uses Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels framework) to extract structured coffee data from scanned text. This AI processing happens entirely on your device — no text, images, or inferred data leaves your iPhone.
When you tap the sparkles (✦) button, Bean AI may send the coffee's structured metadata (brand, name, origin, roast type, etc.) to a Bean AI backend server to request AI-powered enrichment via Anthropic's Claude API. No photos, personal information, or identifiers are included in these requests.
Our backend logs only aggregate statistics: token counts, response time, and success/failure status. Individual request content is not stored. These logs are used solely to monitor API usage and estimated costs.
You can disable AI enrichment entirely by not tapping the sparkles button. Scanning and manual entry work fully offline.
If you have iCloud enabled, your coffee collection may sync across your devices via Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Purchase receipts are verified on-device using Apple's StoreKit framework.
Bean AI's only external network call is the AI enrichment proxy described in section 4. The app does not integrate any analytics, advertising, tracking, or other data collection services. All other Apple framework interactions (StoreKit, CloudKit, Vision, FoundationModels) operate under Apple's privacy policies.
Bean AI does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
